Best Book for Arabic Vocabulary Learning, By

I own pretty much all of the arabic learning books(at intermediate level) you can find online, and for vocabulary learning I use this one which surpasses all. It is very dense, contains a lot of categories, each with detailed vocabulary and with beautiful illustrations. If you already know how to read some arabic and want to improve your arabic vocabulary significantly or use the resource as a reference dictionary it is a must have.I dont usually write reviews but find this book so useful and valuable I just gotta recommend it. I have the oxford arabic picture dictionary as well and like it a lot but this one is even more detailed.

Indispensible for teachers and absolute begiiners - and not only,

Thoroughly recommended, especially at the price.I have used the French and Italian versions of this dictionary for some years and this Arabic version is at least as useful for students and teachers who are learning Arabic in an Anglophone environment. I have always been very impressed by the organization of items within the vocabulary groups: the dictionary can be used in particular situations to buy or discuss things, many of which can be found on facing pages of the book. But this dictionary is perhaps even more useful for teachers who can arrange lessons around particular topics and know that students can locate relevant items far more quickly and accurately than with a 'conventional' dictionary. Of course most items illustrated are of those found predominantly in the 'West', so some items specific to Arabic culture are omitted, (for example Arabic breads or cakes). But, providing the purchaser bears this in mind, they will find this book... Read more

This book fantastic for beginner and encourages further learning. Have ordered more of these to give to family members and they all agree that this is fastest , easiest , way to learn Arabic. Excellant product, and great value for money. Fatma

His pen-name was created from two characters in Grimm's fairy tales, but his novels had little in common with the moralistic fantasies of mittel-Europe. Rudolf Ditzen was a magistrate's son, raised in Berlin and immersed in Dickens, Flaubert and Dostoevsky. He became one of the greatest German authors of the 20th century, but was not translated into English until 2009.

 Some people are very easy to interview. Norton Juster is not one of them. He's delightful and articulate, but listening to the recording of our time together, it's striking how much more interesting his answers are than my questions. So our conversation entirely failed to resolve classics such as "Where did the idea for your book come from?" and ended up instead about vocational education, bipolar disorder, obscure Edwardian ghost-story writers, C P Snow, synaesthesia and the walks Juster used to take with his older brother. In some respects, it's hardly surprising; Juster has been giving interviews about his children's classic The Phantom Tollbooth for half a century, so might be forgiven for wanting his conversations to roam elsewhere.
