Dk Eyewitness Pocket Map And Guide: Florence

We spent July 2010 in Florence. We bought DK's much bigger "Florence & Tuscany" guide to plan the trip, but we were travelling light and found it a bit big to take along. Instead we used this colourful pocket guide.

Essentially, what you get is a dramatically cut-down version of the bigger guide, covering mainly the city of Florence, plus Oltrarno, and day trips in Tuscany. It has a three-panel cover, which folds out so you can use the maps at the back at the same time as using the rest of the book. The book itself divides the city into four colour-coded areas, each of which features highlights for the tourist. The items are numbered and cross-referenced on additional little maps within the book. It all works well - we had no real difficulties with it, except when finding the correct map when cross-referencing.

This pocket map and guide was indispensable on my recent holiday to Florence - I took it everywhere with me. All the major attractions and some lesser ones were described concisely and well. The fold-out map was especially useful.

Took this little pocket guide with us to Florence, absolutely brilliant, kept it with us and didn't get lost once.
