Dk Eyewitness Travel Guide: Argentina

As usual with Eyewitness guidebooks, this is a well illustrated, appealingly presented guide to Argentina. I might wish that the text was rather more informative.

We travelled to Argentina with this book in hand in March 2011, and before arriving had found it an attractive book to flick through and outline our plsns. Like all Eyewitness guides much of the page space is filled with large, colourful photos, and information is general and nowhere near as detailed as, say, a Lonely Planet, Rough Guide or Time Out.

Once we actually arrived in Mendoza, Patagonia and Buenos Aires, as independet travellers, we found the book to be of little day to day use. In BA for example, the book covers important sights area by area, but often the (admittedly good) street maps are turned upside down or on their sides in the area by area close ups! Some buildings are a block away from where they are marked too. Most of all though we found practical information and advice to be absent. Which parts of La Boca are safe(st)?
