I bought several guides to Japan and Tokyo as I'm planning a trip in Summer 2008. Most were quite handy with plenty of information but little pictures. This has lots and lots of both! Maps, guides, restaurants, hotels, shops etc etc you name it and its in here. Well worth the money and quite a handy size for taking on board a plane. Highly recommended.

As with all DK guides, this book is packed with information, photographs and images. The range is superb and you will find all you need about Tokyo in this book.The only comment I would make is that it is for Tokyo only, the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: Japan covers all of Japan (obviously!) and is accordingly better value. If you're only going to Tokyo buy this, otherwise buy the other (don't buy both as I did, as you will be wasting your money).

This book is a real "must" if you're planning a trip to Tokyo.It's full of tips, fantastic ideas, things to do and places to visit. A real bonus are the maps, the book highlights great points of interest and places to visit but also pinpoints where they are in the city on the easy to use maps. This is so important due to the lack of street names in Tokyo. The maps really do help you navigate your way around the city and get to visit all Tokyo has to offer. |
