Dk Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guide: Munich

Would thouroughly recommend this guide as it gives you a good overview of all the things to do and see in and around Munich. I have been to Munich lots of times but lots of the things in the book I didn't know about. There is also a fab little pull out map with some of the attractions on the back that would perfectly fit into your handbag save taking the whole book out with you.

Top 10 travel guides aren't for everyone. They don't go into the depth you might get with Lonely Planet or Rough Guide and the layout can be confusing at first.

What this guide does offer is a great brief look at Munich, giving you (what it considers) the top 10 things to see overall followed by a breakdown of each area, day trips, hotels, restaurants, shopping, entertainment etc.

What this gives you is a great overview, it's a perfect guide for picking up just before you go on a city break where you are only there for a few days and don't have time to see everything or do massive amounts of research before you go.

Each section contains a number photos that help visualise what they are talking about and prevents you from being overwhelmed with text.

Each area also contains a walking tour and there's a useful pull-out map you can carry in your pocket. The book itself is small enough to fit into many pockets or at least won't add much weight... Read more

I bought this Kindle version as I didn't have time to get the hard copy delivered. I imagine the book's fine, but the Kindle version is awful. No pictures, no proper index, and odd typos where text has been lazily cut-and-pasted. There are very few links, and no context menus. Above all, if there is one thing that should be good, it's mapping you can zoom in and out of, with layers to find restaurants, museums, transport etc. This has a few tiny maps which you can't usefully enlarge. Really poor.
