Review: So first thing to clarify up front: the original story from the 30's is called "another little murder" but clearly for marketing reasons they've added the word Christmas to the title (*shrugs*). The pros: there is lots of snow and dark windy nights (the sort of thing you can imagine sitting in a high winged back chair in front of a roaring fireplace - and if you're like me is the reason you buy these books). The story was enjoyable. Was it the best winter whodunit, no. But it was definitely worth the purchase. I enjoyed the opening chapters discussing the snowy car journey to the house (some people have complained about it but I loved it personally). The cons: the ending is loosey goosey - but you do come to expect that after a while (if you've read as many of these novels as I have you do any way).

Review: Although the first fifty pages or so were well done and with a real feeling tension....will the car work etc etc...the book soon descended into a very average 'country house' read. I cared little for most of the characters although the main character at least seemed to possess some spirit and sense of adventure. To me ,it read as if the author herself lost interest and frankly the ending was chaotic in many senses of the word. At a time when there are so many better books of this type ,I cannot really say much more. I do think the publishers should never have added the word " Christmas " for it is both inaccurate and gives a totally wrong feel to the book ...they might have served the author better by giving some biographical detail.---conspicuous by its absence.
