Review: You know when you build up something in your mind until it's something that you desperately want and you believe that it will provide many of your needs and solve many problems, this was the idea with this book. Be aware that this will not teach you how to make bags; it will show the templates, a few design templates, lists... From some reviews I was under impression that this book took you through the stages of design, construction, etc and that there would be plans and patterns for almost all the images and designs. No, they have chosen one or two designs, countless pages identifying strap, closure types, bags, wallets etc. it's actually a design source book. After one or two pages it just appears as if they've run out of content and filled it with illustrations showing multiple permutations of the same thing. There are a few pages on materials, many important ones missing, and a couple of pages on tools with an emphasis on machine produced items. Not entirely clear why a bag designer need an illustration of a sewing machine, other than the author thinking I want to show I can draw a sewing machine! I'm sure that is some use for this book, but I wouldn't say it's invaluable. The quality of resource information is questionable as well as they've included lists of other books you could buy, trade shows you could visit - a spring show which they've helpfully listed as taking place in February or August (i.e. they didn't know and copied and pasted from the previous entry). The list of publications have no authors, no ISBNs... Another commenter stated that there was some kind of guide to classic bags, this was not the case! The book I received had line illustrations of a Kelly, a Chanel 2.55 but no history or guide to speak of - it's a design source book. I bought this from a marketplace vendor rather than through Prime, and I'd suggest that you really need to look at it in detail to determine if it's what you need. Seller was outstanding.
