Review: A brilliant book for my 10 year old daughter. I loved that the story was good and that she was learning about strong, influential women from history. Have told lots of my friends about it. Will be getting the next in the series.

Review: As both an English major and someone who once owned an Ada Lovelace t-shirt, I was thrilled to see a book that was clever enough to include "Wollstonecraft" in the title and turn Ada Lovelace into a Sherlock Holmes meets Lemony Snicket flavored detective. You can't top the premise of this novel, that Mary (eventually Shelley) and Ada Lovelace would form a detective agency and be aided by the likes of Percy Shelley and Charles Dickens. But ultimately, I don't think the book lives up to its premise and promise. I realize that this is a book for pre-teens and not teenagers, but the plot seemed too Encyclopedia Brown, rather uncomplicated and easily solved by Ada. The book was short, very short. The lives of the Shelleys, Ada and her father, were very dark and with Mary Shelley being a central character, I thought the author missed out on an opportunity to show what may have inspired Mary to create Frankenstein's monster, for example. Mary becomes the Watson to Ada's Holmes and I think the book suffers for it. Mary's journey has the potential for so many more interesting twists. That being said, I am anxious to see what the next book in the series offers and I hope the author continues to build upon the world they've created.
