Review: Having read the Enchanted Wood , The Magic Faraway Tree and The Folk of The Faraway Tree to two children (an 8 year old and a 10 year old on the autistic spectrum) I wasn't sure how this book would go down with the human characters being completely different. So far they have enjoyed both the human and fairy folk characters personalities in Blyton's books. It sparked a conversation off about how realistically more than just Joe, Frannie and Beth might have discovered The Enchanted Wood...however...we all agreed that we kind of liked it JUST being Joe, Beth and Frannie as it made it seem more special. It was still entertaining though, and because of the link with Moonface (Peter and Mary's dad is his cousin) it worked as a story with it's visits to imagination sparking lands at the top of the tree. It was just a little less special and slightly disappointing that there was less focus on the folk who live in the Farway Tree (Dame Washalot, The Angry Pixie etc.) or the quirks of it such as The Slippery Slip.
