Review: My husband and I have been reading Wings of Fire for some years now, and this latest installment met our expectations and more. Tui writes such believable and complex characters, that I always find myself relating to them, even if on a surface level we would seem so incompatible. I even fell in love with baby Bumblebee, who felt like a character and not a mere plot device, despite me not being a baby-person in real life. It was nice to see some familiar dragons from the Pyrrhia continent, however brief and the new faces are all amazing characters. The POV character Sundew is a very prickly dragon, but she is just as deep and interesting as every other POV in previous books, and the supporting cast are more grounded and reasonable to balance her grumpiness. The villain reveal was truly terrifying and is taking the series into a very interesting direction. The themes of working together despite differences and troubled history will be coming to a head soon, as it looks like every dragon will have to put aside prejudice to overcome a great threat in the next books. I hope the same message can get through to the other readers who have left negative reviews for intolerant reasons, despite otherwise enjoying the book. I highly recommend this book and this series.
