Review: Earth, Our Original Monastery, helps us to find and know our rightful place in relationship with Earth. Each chapter engages our senses to penetrate, sink into, and rest in this finding and knowing. Using her extensive knowledge and practice, Christine shows us how Earth is the origin of our ideas of Cathedral, Scripture, Saints, Spiritual Directors, Icons, Sacraments, and Liturgy. Each chapter looks at how Earth gives in meaningful ways. By slowing down to engage with the transformative, creative, and inviting practices, we have the opportunity to draw closer to this giving, and to receive. Earth can speak with us if we learn to listen. Chapter by chapter, Christine lays before us expansive reviews and analyses, weaving activities to engage the senses in surprising and delightful ways. John, her husband, brings new insights to familiar texts, opening us further to how things might be. Contemporary and ancient mystics, saints, legends, and practices are accompanied by herbal teas, balms and body scrubs! The subtext of this book might be Earth saying, “Hello, come on in, you belong here, and you’re welcome”. Christine explains how a right relationship with Earth will naturally lead us to act to correct the dangerous ecological imbalances that we are experiencing today.

Review: I enjoyed this book and underlined a lot to think about, but there were too many sections that bordered on weird and worshiping the Earth for me. I think the extra parts that are added by the author and her husband could be left out and then I would have rated it higher. I believe that creation has God's fingerprints all over it. I believe there are many things that we can learn from nature. I don't want to worship nature though, and I felt like this was headed down that path on several occasions.

Description: Moon is everything Christine isn't. She's confident, impulsive, artistic. and though they both grew up in the same Chinese-American suburb, Moon is somehow unlike anyone Christine has ever known. But after Moon moves in next door, these unlikely friends are soon best friends, sharing their favorite music videos and painting their toenails when Christine's strict parents aren't around. Moon even tells Christine her deepest secret: that she has visions, sometimes, of celestial beings who speak to her from the stars. Who reassure her that earth isn't where she really belongs. Moon's visions have an all-too-earthly root, however, and soon Christine's best friend is in the hospital, fighting for her life. Can Christine be the friend Moon needs, now, when the sky is falling? Jen Wang draws on her childhood to paint a deeply personal yet wholly relatable friendship story that's at turns joyful, heart-wrenching, and full of hope. Description: Poignant. A meditation on life, love and the importance of nature' IRISH TIMES When they were in their twenties, Niall Williams and Christine Breen made the impulsive decision to leave New York City and move to Christine's ancestral home in the town of Kiltumper in rural Ireland. In the decades that followed, the pair dedicated themselves to writing, gardening and living a life that followed the rhythms of the earth. In 2019, with Christine in the final stages of recovery from cancer and the surrounding land threatened by the arrival of turbines, Niall and Christine decided to document a year - in words and Christine's drawings - of living in their garden and in their small corner of a rapidly changing world. Proceeding month by month through the year, this is the story of a garden in all its many splendours, and a couple who have made their life observing its wonders. Brand: Waterstones

Description: Junior Songscape: Earth, Sea And Sky is a collection of 25 original songs themed on the elements: Earth, Sea and Sky. The original idea was conceived for a cluster of primary schools in Devon who were embarking on a 'Planet Earth' whole school project. As a result the Sea songs are aimed at Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4 tackle the Earth songs and Years 5 and 6 have the Sky songs. Although conceived as a whole school project Junior Songscape: Earth, Sea and Sky works equally as well as a song book to dip in and out of. The songs are written with a sensitivity for the range and skills of the age group they are designed for and any part writing is optional, allowing even less confident choirs to get involved and get singing. This is a wonderful follow on from Junior Songscape building on Lin Marsh's well established and much loved classroom singing resources.
