Review: I bought this about a year ago for my 7 year old son who said it was crap and it has sat unloved/unused in his Audio CD collection ever since. I was having a clear out after Xmas and came across it and decided to let my 5 year old daughter have a listen. Curious why my son thought it was crap, I laid next to my daughter to listen with her and I didn't make it past the first visualisation scene and woke up the following morning. I have been having difficulty sleeping since the New Year when I gave up smoking and have not been able to switch off and hey presto I can't believe its actually working for me so each night I let me daughter use it then I take it for me and so far it works every night - I'm shocked. It is aimed at children but the first relaxation step seems to really work for me and I seriously don't make it past the visualisation scenes. I've now ordered a couple by Charles Vald and one aimed at teenagers by Christiane Kerr, her voice relaxes and works for me. I am going to look into getting some for adults but they are really pricey.

Review: I bought this CD after reading the wonderful reviews. My six year old daughter is going through an anxious phase, and seems frightened of almost everything at the moment. Night times are particularly difficult. Since both my husband and I have benefited greatly from meditation, I thought this might be the answer. Unfortunately, my daughter cannot "get into" it. She will listen to the "story" in the meditation, but cannot imagine herself actually participating in it. She fidgets all the way through, has difficulty keeping her eyes closed, and as soon as the story is over, and just the calm music is playing, she jumps up and wants to do something else. Also, this CD only contains four meditations (I had expected eight, from the description); the other four tracks are preparatory relaxation exercises. It is really difficult to stop the CD after the relaxation, so you end up always doing both a relaxation and a meditation each time, which is not what I had expected. Finally, I might be the only one, but I find Ms Kerr's voice and her choice of words often rather annoying. All in all, however, I think this is a good quality product, and clearly works for a lot of children. Just unfortunately, not for all of them. Added two year's later: my daughter (now eight) has begun listening to this again, and seems to like it better than she did when she was six. She does get bored of hearing the same things several times though. Not like an adult who knows that meditation / relaxation is less about what you hear but about how you hear it ...
