Review: This is the 19th century Rawlinson translation of Herodotus. It's perfectly clear to a modern reader but, unsurprisingly, has a stately old-fashioned feeling to it. Well, the text is 2500 years old, and in my view it should sound as if it was. Newer translations just don't sound right to my ear. The book is also outstandingly cheap, though of perfectly good quality by paperback standards. I'd unhesitatingly choose it over any other edition.

Review: The effort that Wordsworth put into producing this series can only be admired. This is a true classic, and as a history it is' his story' and all the better for it.
