Review: Hitler's Furies recounts women under the Nazis, and how they were involved in mass murder. Women's involvement in genocide has often been overlooked during this period, and this book aims to shed light on the brutality of women under the Nazi regime. I specifically focused on the Nazi nurses for my undergraduate dissertation, trying to find the answers as to why doctors, the saviours of life, were involved in criminal murder. For women, they often placed blame on the hierarchy - they were to follow orders of their superior male doctors. Yet this book reveals the dark horrors of Nazi medicine as well as other professions during the Third Reich, and their willingness to murder. This an important book to read in order to try to understand the complexity of the Holocaust and 'ordinary' people's involvement in genocide.

Review: I felt the book was incomplete, and it left me with the thought is that it? theres very little mention of these women, just exerts here and there. at some point during the book, you will come to the horrible realization that this book is going to be hard to read. intermingled with fragmented life storys and psychological assessments and theorys, when i reached that part myself, it was like hitting a wall i didnt want to read anymore. but i pushed through and got over the disapointment. once you overcome that hurdle the book in itself is a glimpse into the past that that ive never heard of before, a fascinating read into the twisted past of nazi germany. personally though the book did disappoint because of the fragmented storys intertwined with psychobabble and history which isnt a bad thing, i just wish the author kept them in certain chapters than than dotted throughout the whole book.
