Review: We were so impressed with the???? dinosaur version , we had to have this one, and, it was on discount, at the time of order! There is a seasonal theme to this one, as detailed in ‘Welcome to the Unicorn Garden’ (image below refers). The current stock images above give an idea of the content. ooOoo ~ TITLE: MY UNICORN GARDEN ~ ACTIVITY BOOK ~ AUTHOR: EMILY HIBBS ~ ILLUSTRATOR: NATALIE BRISCOE ~ PUBLISHER: SCHOLASTIC/THE ROYAL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY (RHS) ~ 2021 'Printed & bound in the UK' ooOoo Reminding me of the good old days, this is a bumper sized activity book that measures around 21 cm x 29.5 cm The colourful thick card cover has a touch of shiny pink foil to the front that nonchalantly catches the change of light. Inside are 96 good quality, matte finish pages covering all sorts of things to do throughout the year as shown in the ‘CONTENTS', pages 6 & 7 (image below refers). From the back cover (image below refers): ???? ‘Discover the magical secrets of gardening inside the unicorn garden. This beautiful book is bursting with fun things to make and do, from creating fantastic flower pressings to making your own mini unicorn garden. Inspired by the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society, soon you’ll become a gardening expert, too.’ Pages 8 & 9 are notes re 'OUTDOOR SAFETY FOR PARENTS & CHILDREN'. At the back is a handy glossary of 'GARDENING TERMS', just ahead of the all important 'ANSWER' page that winds up the book. In between, along with little snippets of information, is a selection of activities to pass the time with e.g. drawing & colouring in, word games, mazes, puzzles, etc, as well as things to do outside, such as make a daisy chain. Page 14 offers the chance to work out & write in your very own ‘secret’ UNICORN NAME, and you could add a friend’s too. On some, a list of things ‘YOU WILL NEED’ is handily included right at the start. Some activities are step-by-step, with any level of adult supervision also indicated, along with gentle reminders, e.g. asking permission before picking flowers, etc. Some pressure is required against the spine to get the book to lie flat especially when new and, arguably, the font style used throughout could benefit from being bolder, IMO.
