Review: Good Lord, I love Kamala Khan. I am definitely *not* the target audience--white, middle-aged man, here!--but it is so, so much fun having a superhero who loves what they're doing, rather than carrying the weight of the world all the time. Of course, there's plenty of weight to be carried, but Kamala never loses her bounce, which is what makes her so amazing. This is a simple story, with a very kiddy, cute art style, but it's everything a Ms. Marvel story needs to be: trying to do too much, too fast; overcoming annoying (rather than stressful to read) bad guys; and lots of self-deprecation and quips. I love it. If you love this latest iteration of Ms. Marvel, you'll love this book. In fact, you probably already own it! You should.

Review: “Ms. Marvel – Stretched Thin” is a children’s graphic novel – slightly smaller than a regular graphic novel by a centimetre or two in height and width – comprising 110 pages of artwork, with six chapter-breaks each knocking a couple of pages off. Amazon lists it as being for the 8-12 age group, but it will work for any age. The style of art is very reminiscent of the CG animated cartoons of Marvel characters, and the situation of Kamala Khan (MS Marvel) being in a training group with Miles Morales (Kid-Spider-Man) and Doreen Green (Squirrel Girl) mirrors one of those TV series. The story however, is as much about Kamala’s home, school and personal life as it is about punching giant robots – for giant Robots are the thing in this story. It is well-written and well illustrated and will suit the target age-group excellently (and us older readers too).
