This highly readable account will be of wide general interest; dress historians and archaeologists will also find a wealth of new insights into the fashions, clothing and textile industries of medieval England and Europe. Review: This book contains the history of clothing in Medieval Times, spanning three centuries. The text is easy to read. A book crammed full of historical detail. Any weaver will be interested in the descriptions and illustrations of the drafts showing how different fibres were woven. There are many clear black and white photographs of fragments from garments, with their own description attached. There are some colour pages showing fragments of material found in excavations in London. There are many line drawings to show patterns and designs of cloth, and the various pieces that go to make a garment. Each chapter deals with the different texiles used, with an explanation of its origins. An excellent book for anyone, and students, wanting information on which fabrics were worn at this time. A very good purchase. Fully recommend.

Review: I liked the book as I was researching types of cloth and methods used in creating the fabrics.
