Review: A beautifully designed book with an unusual story and equally unusual and attractive illustrations. I did enjoy this book. Though it doesn’t really explain what time it is set, it is unmistakably some time in the past (maybe a hundred to a couple hundred years ago or so at a guess) at least before things like electricity, but the biggest irritation for me was the frequent use of the term ‘ok’, and ‘hang on’, which really threw me out of kilter when reading each time they came up from what was otherwise a very enjoyable story. I’ve come across this type of thing quite often before in modern titles that are set in the past, and I really don’t know what Writers (or Editors?) are thinking when this happens... I’m surprised that this got over-looked when editing as it really isn’t in keeping with the story... Nice read all the same though.
