Review: I didn't rush to read this book, I have read all the others but Ireland held memories of working with lovely Irish colleagues back in the 80s, to be honest, I felt too old for this book. But then it came on offer and I thought okay. It has sat on my kindle, but as Autumn settled in and thoughts of comfort food I decided to read it. Like all books in this series there is a link to the previous book, but as the story references the link it gives you enough details so that if this is the first book you're reading you've not missed anything.. In this case, Hannah is the sister of the previous heroine Mina. Hannah sees herself as the sensible one, she is a lawyer living in their home town, Manchester, after Mina decided to live in Switzerland Hannah feels a bit deserted. When she experiences a failure in an office bakery competition and then reads an article about an Irish cookery school in the Sunday Times she decides to take a risk; 6 weeks off work to attend the course so she can improve her non-existent cookery skills. The theme is about taking risks and enjoying life. Julie's writing worked its magic and I conjured up the relaxed attitude of the Irish and their lyrical way with words. Once again I was absorbed in a book and the urge to visit Dublin and sample Guinness at its source was rekindled. PS There is a romance that is as descriptive, if not more so, as the food tasting.
