Review: Muir means sea, and that is pretty much the only thing that isn't explained in the book. If you've watched the film be warned a lot is different. There's less dominance of the early years but it does mean we get to see what the Captain's reaction to one of Lucy's children's wedding is. It's worth reading, whether or not you've seen the film, be warned though Lucy's son is a brat and you'll want him keel-hauled before you're finished with the book for simply being so unlike his mother. The book rounds out the characters well, and includes little scenes that take off that Hollywood gloss and make it more realistic, such as the pawnbroker's shop. The binding is very understated, and it's quite large, not large-print edition, but bigger than many books on your shelf will be.
