Review: I really enjoy reading Cathy Kelly books and this one did not disappoint. Set in Avalon, Ireland, a story of the women in the village, their secrets and stories. Danae, the postmistress and her Niece Mara. Tess and Suki, sisters living either side of the pond but each with their own problems due to men. Tess and Suki loved in the big house on Willow Street, but despite appearances money was scarce and soon there was only Tess left and she was forced to sell, only for the new owners to abandon the property after they fell on hard times. Suki is being hounded by a writer who's gathering background information about her time with an influential family. Danae keeps herself to herself and looks after her animals, no one knows her secret, Mara needs to get away from the city and the man who broke her heart, will she find what she's looking for in Avalon? I loved reading this book, the depth of the characters and the storyline kept me entranced til the end.

Review: Sadly I didn't connect to the characters in this story. Mara was lovely and felt she held the story together. I would have loved to have read that Danae had finally moved back into her childhood home. I felt the story ended abruptly leaving lot's of strings untied. Shame as I've read and enjoyed several of Cathy Kelly's novels.
