Review: Finally a manual for operating this body, mind, spirit complex! I can’t say enough good things about this author’s work and this book. I originally purchased a couple of the author’s dvd classes years ago and they were in a “for later” box for a long while. I waited until I was in deep doodoo to actually study them (nothing like necessity for motivation). The classes helped pull me out of a deep hole I had dug and I have been a big fan ever since. “The Language Your Body Speaks” gives energy medicine a new dimension by adding the power of mind and spirit through imagination and creativity. It is a synopsis of the author’s life work rolled into one book. People familiar with her work will appreciate how it has been pulled together into one place with some great new material as well. Those unfamiliar will find the information and concepts easy to understand and follow. There are 32 officially named exercises and many more suggestions throughout the book that are also noteworthy. Two of my favorites are the porcupine reset and the smart filter exercises. I’d love to see some accompanying instructional videos of the exercises as a book bonus like some authors are offering these days (hint hint). The book is a practical, no-nonsense, down to earth, and sprinkled with humor treasure. It is coming at a really good time. The turmoil in this modern world is unnerving, like a huge disturbance tearing at the fabric of our understanding. In this ripped open state, we need to and are possibly more open to learn new ways of living and being. Like learning to see the forest for the trees or to see what has always been right in front of us but hidden until now. The book encourages us to learn by immersing ourselves like babies do when discovering things for the first time. The book sifts things down to the basics. Einstein said “The definition of genius is taking the complex and making it simple.” The book does that well. While the concepts and tools presented may seem simple, don’t be fooled! They are rich with meaning and very powerful. The book provides the foundation, the building blocks, to help build and maintain health in an overly allopathic-centered world that has made health far too complicated to the point of ridiculousness, to the point health care is no longer comprehensible. I really appreciate the instruction for doing the exercises with intention which is broken down into three aspects – assess, rebalance, and invoke. I don’t know why this little gem isn’t in the very first chapter though (it is in chapter 10). Using these three aspects of intention recognizes our uniqueness and that we are our own best experts. It enables the customization of any exercise to what we need at that given moment. I also appreciate the practice tips at the end of each chapter as synopses, points of reference, and reminders. The author offers a new frame of reference by identifying three aspects of the self -- the Earth Elemental Self, the Talking Self, and the Wiser Self. It feels more intuitive and common sense than the often confusing, ill-defined and misunderstood traditional terms such as ego, mind, conscious, subconscious, etc. She teaches us how to decode what the three selves are trying to tell us. We run into problems when we don’t listen! I believe what she calls “spirit feeds” is a simplified version of what she calls “councils” in her first book “Listening In.” They are metaphors and useful for learning more about our nature. Some examples of spirit feeds are visionary, peacemaker, and awakener. Definitely check out her first book for more on that topic (or better yet, do a channeled reading consult with her). This book deserves several readings as it is chock full of nuances and new perspectives, each time through will provide more insights and understandings. I so appreciate the author’s generosity to share her wisdom with us. If this book resonates with you, definitely look into the author’s other offerings (I highly recommend the “Storyline Track and Balance” dvd class, a lifesaver for me) and definitely get Donna Eden’s Energy Medicine book if you don’t have it already! The two books make a powerful duo. Thank you for reading and many blessings!

Review: I love this book!I've been fortunate to have taken one of Ellen's classes and really enjoy her teaching style. Communicating with the body's energy to cultivate wellness may seem a bit beyond those without any training, but Ellen is masterful in her explanations. What I especially like is the concept of "playing with your energies" which is how the techniques of communicating with your energy are presented. I highly recommend reading this book - you will have fun and learn a lot about wellness.
