Description: A comprehensive, scholarly accessible study, in which the authors draw upon poetry and mythology, art and literature, archaeology and psychology to show how the myth of the goddess has been lost from our formal Judeo-Christian images of the divine. They explain what happened to the goddess, when, and how she was excluded from western culture, and the implications of this loss. Review: This is a perception-changing book, full of historic reflections beyond anything I have ever read before. Not only is it opening my eyes to ways of being and believing that I never knew had existed but it also offers me guidance as to how to look at my current world through fresh eyes and possibilities. The pictures, reflections and detail is inspiring and based on great research. It is a thick book and I have to say a thoroughly enjoyable read, based on small chapters perfect for a night before bed. I heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in our history and in exploring Goddess culture, which has all but been written out of the history books (the ones I was introduced to anyway). I find this book a great companion and one full of inspiration.

Review: Im very interested in the origins of goddess religon and found this book to be insightful. (Thou whenever Homer is mentioned I tend to switch off). I like the fact that most of these goddesses were really one of the same origin. Good book.
