Review: As with all of Linda Howard's books, you have to go in a bit wary. After reading the synopsis i expected the majority of the plot to revolve around the alpha-hero charging through enemy land to rescue the left behind heroine, protocol and orders be damned. Instead she saves herself - which I love. Nearly 60% of the book is about Jina's training and the relationship that forms between her and the team, which again I love. My main issue with this book is the same issue i have with nearly all of Linda Howard's books. She seems to forget she's writing them. You get three quarters of a brilliant story that is paced perfectly, the characters grow and evole, the plot progresses in a way you simply can't put the book down - then all of a sudden it's like Howard remembers she has to finish the story and your slammed with an ending that is chock full of exposition and antagonists that have had such a little part in the main story you forget they were there. In this case, when the female bad guy reappeared i legitimately had to skip back to the start and re-read the first chapter because I had no idea who she was. As for the romance aspect, I liked it. Somewhat. I liked the fact Levi controlled himself when he finally realised Jina wasn't going anywhere. How he was so set on his own rules he simply accepted that whilst she was a member of his team, she was off limits. And I love how she WAS a member of the team, not just the little lady the big bad soldiers had to protecf. Another part of the romance i adored was that, unlike in Linda Howard's other books, Levi and Jina had TIME to get to know each other, to deal with their attraction and figure out what to do with it. It wasn't 'I've known you two weeks, damn your good in bed, let's get married". All in all, I really loved this book. Still recovering from the slight whiplash you get when your suddenly slapped with the ending, but the first three quarters make up for that. It does leave you feeling a bit disappointed, but it's still a really good read. Definitely one of my favourites by Linda Howard.

Review: I think the description/synopsis is very misleading, 65% of the book is Babe training and going on boring missions. I didn't mind reading about it, but I was expecting something different. I expected a mission going wrong and the book being about how Babe survives by herself but most of the book was how she endured training. Only 4 chapters were actually about the botched mission. Something wasn't sitting right with me when it came to Babe and Levi's relationship either. I didn't think there much was chemistry between them, no feelings were actually spoken about between them and by the end of the book they're getting married... sorry, but no lol. I loved the rest of the team and Babe too, 3 stars.
