Review: This isn't a book that tells you what to do. It's not a book which is black and white n terms of the info. If you are looking for a book like that - look somewhere else. From the more negative reviews I have seen, people haven't understood how this book works. For example - you have a stormy phase of a leap after which your child will have the brain functionality to add new skills. Bear in mind - leaps are not software updates. They don't go through a leap and then gain a whole set of skills overnight. So many of these reviews are saying that it caused worry about hitting milestones and then they complain that it doesn't happen all at once. This isn't a checklist of milestones, rather it is a checklist of skills. New skills are developed over time. I personally use the book in conjunction with the app, I use the app to keep track of the actual dates for my child and use the book for further information. Once my baby has gone through a leap, I have a look at what new skills are due to present themselves. Some show up sooner than others. Some take a couple more leaps before they arrive. And it helps me be more patient with my child when they are upset because their brain could just need a break. Yes there is a lot of repetition in the book ... If that is going to irk you, then you are better off with just the app. But again, the book isn't designed to be read cover to cover in one go - it is a reference book which you are more likely to pick up every couple of weeks... And then it ends up being a good reminder to check in on your kid and yourself and remind you that if you are stressed to take a min and show you that you aren't the only one out there who is going through this. I hope this helps some people understand the purpose of the book and how it can help them in the way it is designed to.
