Review: I have recently reviewed this issue in my Church and having read nearly all the noted books on this is issue, this was the one that I found the most helpful. It is a very clear and helpful summary regarding the main arguments with helpful responses from those of a different view. The tone is civil and gracious. I gave my copy to another minister who is also going through this issue at his church and he agreed that it was the most helpful book on the issue he has seen.

Review: This is a good introduction to the women in ministry debate. The traditionalists or complementarian view is presented by two authors which various nuances, who argue that women should not hold the office of an elder, overseer or senior pastor, as this would require them teaching or exercising authority over men. However, all other ministries, even the office of a deacon are open to gifted women. Their key text being 1 Tim. 2:11-12. Egalitarians, again basically two views, argue that their is no office within the church that a woman cannot function in. The weakness of this book, was that the authors had so much in common, with regards their beliefs, that there was much overlap in their responses to each other. This book would have benefited with an author that presented a strict reformed view of only male leadership and ministry within a local Church setting, and the two complementarian views and an egalitarian view.
