Arnoldsche Therese Hilbert RED
Price: £42.00
Brand: Arnoldsche
Description: This exhibition catalogue for a show at the Neue Sammlung (Design Museum) in Munich documents the first solo show by Swiss jewellery artist Therese Hilbert, former student of Max Fröhlich in Zurich and Hermann Ju?nger in Munich. It features 250 works, going back 50 years and beginning with her earliest, unknown pieces through to her newest work created in 2020. One of her life-long passions is volcanoes: she has climbed many of them and has used them as a theme in her jewellery design for many years. The sense of heat below the surface of her minimalist designs underlines her passion for the subject. Her work is in the collections of the Design Museum (Munich), the National Gallery of Victoria, the Dallas Museum of Art, and Museum of Arts and Design (New York). Features texts by Heike Endter, Otto Kuenzli, Ellen Maurer-Zilioli, Pravu Mazumdar, Angelika Nollert, Warwick Freeman and Petra Hölscher. Text in English and German. Arnoldsche Mandala – In Search of Enlightenment
Price: £64.00
Brand: Arnoldsche
Description: Hailing from the cultural realm of India, the mandala signifies in its original sense a sacred circle. It serves as a meditation aid and at the same time reflects an ancient symbolism of strictly geometric basic forms accompanied by an interpretation of its sacred content. As an expression of the awareness of higher affinities, the symmetrically arranged geometry can be found in a variety of pictorial works and the architecture of various epochs and cultural realms, for example in medieval book illumination, the floor plan of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, in Kazimir Malevich's Black Square, or in various objects of the indigenous peoples of Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Americas. Based on these and other masterpieces from renowned museums and private collections and illustrated in fascinating photographs of unique buildings and rituals, this publication offers an impressive first analysis of the phenomenon of sacred geometry in art and architecture and their underlying ideologies. Arnoldsche James Wilson Morrice
Price: £42.00
Brand: Arnoldsche
Description: James Wilson Morrice: Paintings and Drawings of Venice is the first comprehensive overview of the artist's images of Venice, Italy. Living in Paris for most of his life, Morrice (1865-1924) was the first Canadian painter to make regular trips to Venice from the mid 1890s to about 1908. This book situates Morrice within the history of Venice and Venetian art in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by looking carefully at his more than 100 modernist paintings and numerous drawings of 'La Serenissima." During his lifetime, Morrice's Venetian pictures appeared in art exhibitions in Paris, London and other European countries, as well as in Montreal and the United States. Constantly cited in exhibition reviews, Morrice was praised for his modernity, and his Venice works have ensured his fame and importance for years to come.

Arnoldsche Seeing with Another Eye
Price: £42.00
Brand: Arnoldsche
Description: With a passion for art in all its forms, Anthony Shaw has created an extraordinary art collection which focuses in particular on British sculptural ceramics. The collection features among its major artists Gordon Baldwin, Ewen Henderson, Gillian Lowndes, Bryan Illsley, and Sara Radstone, who all work intuitively and express the 'felt" nature of their works, in doing so often transcending the limitations of their medium. The most recent additions include Nao Matsunaga and Kerry Jameson, who likewise invariably produce the unexpected. The works, skilfully staged by photographer Philip Sayer, are complemented with contributions by Anthony Shaw himself and David Whiting, who set this remarkable collection in its art historical context.
