Review: I was quite excited by the idea of this. I envisaged diverse and challenging tiles, sizing guides and design suggestions ( or at least some pictures to give an idea of suggested makes). In reality it is dull and uninspiring. Many of the 100 tiles are just similar plain squares with different colours thrown at them in patterns that could induce a seizure. Think mismatched 80s fashion and you're halfway there. There are a few hexagons, octagon and lantern shapes put with no discussion about joining them or linking with shares or other shapes as part of a design, and no Pentagon's ( that I could find) or talk about their use in 3d designs. All in all very basic, dated and dull. There is also no mention about how different yarns could achieve different finishes. Not at all inspiring. It certainly did nt have me itching to get started. At £13 this is way overpriced. I expected a lot more. It isn't even aimed at beginners as there is only a cursory stitch guide at the back. All in all, there is no clear target market for this book and its overpriced and underwhelming. I'd suggest paying no more than £4 for it and simply using it as a framework if you're unfamiliar with different shapes, then experimenting with your own stitches and colourways.
