Review: Last year Father Christmas gave my son the first 4 in the series. We read a few chapters each night as our bed time story. My son was not quite ready for chapter books back then so this year Father Christmas brought him just one in the series. Gosh, I wish he would have left more. It is amazing what one year does. We have read this one over 10 times now and started the whole series over again. My son is now 5½ and that has made the difference. He does not need a picture on every page anymore. While I am reading his imagination is playing the story for him. I change some of the words while reading because I do not always like the way the older brother talks to his younger sister. My brother and I never talked that way to each other growing up. We are very close and I think that I would rather not pass on a negative stereotype. But that is MY opinion. and I would still recommend these books. There is a scene in the 'castle mystery' book where Annie shines a torch on mid evil knights and they are frightened by it. My son burst into laughter at that idea. -Great writer, -fun ideas, -just scary enough to keep a 5 year old's interest.

Review: these books had been recommended to me, and I was excited to reads them to my 6 year old, but we were very disappointed. My son remarked "is that it?" after finishing the book. There is no story line to this book, and no real ending. I have since found out that you have to read all the books in the series for the stories to make any sense. However, this books was so poor that I do no plan on wasting any more money on them.
