Review: I started a Doctorate programme with zero knowledge of philosophy and yet it was one of the central modules! In panic I bought some books to get me started on the basics and this really did the job! It was very accessible. I would really recommend it if you wanted to dip your toe in, or if you're using it as a basis to help make sure you didn't sound like much of an eejit in front of your class! I'm now hardcore into philosophy!

Review: A nice intro to philosophy which seems to cover more or less all the key points without using too much confusing language. However, there is no organisation or coherence to the chapters, it jumps from theory to key person with no links in theme or time frame. Eastern views were also only covered extremely briefly and could have had more space
