Review: Ok for a start .. the people giving this one star.. The Author and the Publisher have not hidden the fact on social media that old titles have been revamped and re published. If you have not read any of the Haern/watcher related stories and you are reading my review ...stop this is book 4 go back and start at the beginning (Dance of Cloaks). If you have read the Watcher books before ..get this it has angled the book series leading to future books possible. It's less stand alone and allows the story to move on (also one or two major plot alterations) Yes I read the original .. and for the most part I knew where the story was going (those of you who are getting to book 4 for the first time enjoy the ride) but as I sit down on my lunch break reflecting on how I felt at the end of the story last night ...the important feeling I had was that the watcher can now move on. Through editing and a different slant we now get a bridge from one part of the watchers life to another .. ..at this point your probably thinking ...isn't that the point ..but no. When I finished the original version while entertaining the ending was flat (well as much as David Dalglish books can be) .. Besides a guy in cloaks who is great with blades ..there was no real character development between the Watcher in the series and the Character that is seen in the half Orcs series (Haern is not a central character in that series but is involved some significant parts) .. I do not want to spoil plot lines etc for people who have not read the other series or who will in future. Is it my favourite book he has ever written ...no. It is a very important book all the same.. as it shows the transition for both character and Author (into what I will leave that up to the reader ;-) ) All I will say is this the Author has not developed a new car , he has taken it breathed some life in the engine, given a new exhaust and lowered the suspension a tad ... not only do you want to drive the new version , but you can't wait to drive it again.
