Review: We absolutely adore this little series. The stories are gentle, well-written tales about the values of friendship and kindness, told in flowing rhymes that are just perfect for the 4-7 age group. My absolute favourite part of this wonderful series though are the illustrations. They're so detailed and charming and we seem to spot something new each time, despite numerous reads. Charles Fuge does a superb job. This particular tale is the perfect read for those crisp cold wintery months. I agree the cover makes it looks a bit like a Christmas book but people have birthdays in December too right? The fact it doesn't focus on Christmas means it can be enjoyed right throughout the winter period, even once Christmas is a dim and distant memory come February.
