Review: Sometimes a series of books can get tired, or formulaic and you think a writer has got stale. Not so with the Kate Shackleton series. Not only is it still set in Yorkshire but different parts, still not far from Headingly. Kate and her team of Sykes, Mrs Sugden, Sergeant (dog) and Sookie (cat) odd one out Harriet as her surname does not begin with an S. But I love the books. They're not gruesome or gory. They're murder mysteries but set in the 20s. Hopefully she will keep writing these books. I'm starting the next one in a few minutes.

Review: I have read all of the previous "Kate Shackleton" books and have enjoyed them. However, I really struggled to finish this book. I couldn't take to any of the characters at all and despite the story being set in wonderful Bronte territory I found the plot to be extremely dull. I really enjoyed the add-on short story at the end of the book, which depicted Kate's first case.
