Review: Christine has done it again! I was dubious about how Air Bound was going to be but in actual fact, although the first two "Sister’s of the Heart" books were good, this latest book in the series, I feel, supersedes expectations completely and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ariana is quiet, courageous, and brave and has a funny sense of humour which helps her through the traumatic experiences when she is kidnapped. After her mother was tragically murdered when she was 16 years old, she has kept a low profile and found her family amongst her friends. Friends that also have special gifts which have brought them closer together. They have made their home in Sea Haven and between them, they have built up a life of helping and caring for each other which makes them stronger. Ariana’s gift is one that ‘others’ want and there are three individuals who will stop at nothing to acquire her. Maxim is a brother to the Prakenshii brothers. They are men who have been taken from their parents and trained from childhood to be feared. They have been brought up to show no feelings or emotions, to be used as their Handlers see fit. To be assassins and to be able to get any job done that is deemed necessary to whoever they are working for. Maxim is emotionally scarred and all through his life he has trusted no one and only relies on himself…..until he meets Ariana…..but trust does not come easily to him. The story starts off by Maxim being hired by Adriana’s birth father to kidnap her. A father who hasn’t seen his daughter for the whole of her life suddenly decides he wants to make contact. He is concerned that another unscrupulous evil man is planning on acquiring her. As a father he should want to see her for herself but this is not the case. He only wants her for the project she devised when she was working for the US Government 10 years earlier when she was 16. Even though Max has kidnapped Ariana, his first concern is always for her safety and it is not long before he becomes aware of betrayal. Max and Ariana have to flee attempts to capture her not only by her father but others. As the story progresses you see how Max and Ariana slowly become closer and begin to trust one another. What I loved about this storyline is way CF has sensitively brought these two traumatised people together. You get to know Max and Ariana and watch their romance building slowly, a relationship which is believable and realistic. The storyline is full of action and fast paced. As with the two previous books there is a thread running through it that picks up on the sex trafficking which some people may not like. There is only one gripe I have and that is it seemed to finish quickly. One minute they had escaped and were hiding in a beach cabana, The next they were back home having been rescued by Max’s brothers and organising further security for the final battle that was to take place. Which it did with the right outcome. You will enjoy the characters in Air Bound and you can connect with them. The plot is intriguing and so engrossing you will be on an emotion roller coaster ride so much so you will not be able to put the book down. I recommend anyone to read it.

Review: I found this book very disappointing and fits with the quality of Feehan's most recent titles. Quite a few things about the book irritated me and I found myself skimming past quite a few of the action scenes (there are ALOT!). The issue that bugged me the most about the novel was that the two main characters seemed so under developed and I found it very unbelievable that Airiana would fall in love with Maxim so quickly! He kidnapped her from her home, hurt her a few times and took her on a slave ship for goodness sake but they seemed to be 'made for one another' in about 100pgs! And do not even get me started on the ready made family! My cliche/paranormal romance stereotype alarm was blaring from the first few pages! I also found that the details of child sex exploitation within the book seemed very heavy handed and a lot of pages were dedicated to these scenes within what is supposed to be a romance novel. I know that Feehan usually tries to address some harder hitting areas within her books to make some seem more like urban fantasy, but even so I found it very off putting (and quite disturbing in parts!). I'm not one to shy away from books covering harder hitting topics but I would not like them covered in so much detail in my romance novels please! Overall I found the characters annoying, unbelievable and badly written. I do not recommend this book if you are a fan of Feehan's earlier work as her current novels seem to be falling very much below par.
