Review: I've been reading Landys books for nearly a decade now and this is the only one I have been disappointed in. I just feel like like Derek heard about some of the sillier side of the internet today (primarily tumblr, fanfiction and how young girls can behave on these websites) and thought that would be good enough to revolve a lot of the book around. The good side, its delightful inappropriate for the age range as the previous two books have been with the murder and mayhem even if its not as creative as it has been in the past. There are some good laughs here and there and we get a closer look at hell which is always an unsettlingly interesting location. What was bad? The blatant referencing to pop culture (which although can be seen in the rest of his books its nothing as shameful as having a Gremlin singing the Rocky theme tune as we see in the opening chapter). Then there is the introduction of plot changing elements not mentioned until this book and what I'd consider poor use of characters that have had a lot of care and attention put into their creation. I dont know. Maybe Landy got bored by the end of book 2 and wanted to finish this up quickly. If you are looking at book 3 you've probably read the other two and will want to read this regardless... maybe wait for the paperback.
