Review: My enthusiasm for Lovecraft started with his masterful short stories, which would often be included in the collected horror or fantasy paperbacks I read in my teens in the 70s; these large omnibus editions from Harper Collins have been around since the 90s and provide a good means of obtaining his full output; this first volume contains his full novels/novellas and it`s interesting to see how how he sustains writing in the extended form. How one will react to these works will be entirely subjective; if one is already acquainted with his style they will be quite readable, but for a newcomer they may prove something of a challenge; “The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath” with it's lack of chaptering is probably the most difficult to digest, though – marathon in it's scale – I found it immersive and wonderfully descriptive; the other works are more manageable in form, but I would advise new readers to begin with either of the other volumes and the short story format to fully appreciate the author's particular genius. A worthwhile book to add to one`s fantasy library – essential to Lovecraft fans, but not the book to begin with if one hasn`t read any of his stories before.

Review: There is a small amount of tearing damage to the back cover. The front cover, and spine, are worn -- though I expected that for a used, well-read book. The book is, otherwise, in good condition.
