Review: Have struggled to find story books to capture my daughters attention but she loves these and is basically reading one a day!

Review: .... because the narrator starts almost every paragraph with 'So, anyway....'. I quite understand what the author is going for here - a sort of chatty story telling style - but as I don't really want my daughter to develop that sort of use of pointless extra words when she talks, I simply drop those words and it still reads fine. Otherwise, they are good books. My 5 year old enjoys me reading them to her but I think they'd be suitable for an older child to read to themselves, especially given the illustrations and eye-catching use of larger fonts for emphasis etc. That said, like most children's series, they are a bit repetitive. When you've read about Maisie fainting for the hundredth time, I don't think even a 5 year old finds it that funny. I probably shouldn't be reading them back to back though!
