Review: Second volume of the trilogy - and the quest has begun. It's not entirely clear what the quest is for, largely because Bayaz, First of the Magi, refuses to tell us. It's an ill assorted group. They trek across the continent and through the mountains only to find... But I won't spoil it for you Meanwhile Inquisitor Glokta takes a break from torturing people and is put in charge of the besieged city of Dagoska. It doesn't go well, but I expect you knew that. And at the other side of the country, the wild and savage Northmen invade the province of Angland. An army is sent against them. That doesn't go well either. Another cracker of a fantasy novel from an author I didn't know, but i am now hooked. And as I neared the end of this book, I bought the next volume, paying full price which is pretty much unheard of for me

Review: Not as energetic and fun as book one...slowing down...confusing mix of two major plot lines: one contemporary power-searching one, and one ancient magic-user feud...either one would have been enough...now they trip up each other, and cause confusion and loss of focus...barely finished...
