Description: The Bluecoats is a humorous comic-book series starring Sergeant Chesterfield and Corporal Blutch, soldiers in the Union army during the Civil War. Our two heroes are captured by the Confederates and taken to Robertsonville prison camp, from which Blutch and the Sergeant try to escape five times. The camp commandant despairs, and Chesterfield and Blutch make a final attempt. Robertsonville Prison was inspired by the Andersonville prison camp situated in Georgia, which operated from mid-1863 to mid-1864. Review: Got a set of 3 of these for a C’mas present for my 14 year old son who is an avid reader but also likes comics. Had not really heard of these but the American civil war them is handy for the American History part of th3 GCSE course he is studying. The story them makes a nice change from the supernatural themed comics that seem to be in fashion; he likes the Archie comics and formerly the Aestrix and TinTin themed ones.

Review: I purchased this comic for my kids and saddly the kindle format is not at all suited for this novel... I wanted to read it on my tablet (surface) and Impossible to adapt the picture to the size of the screen.... This is not the book the problem (I wanted to read it to my kids as I use to read it when young...) I do read comics on other format and I never have any problems (.cbr, . cbz and even pdf...) conclusion - i will never buy comics for kindle..

Description: The Civil War rages on. Despite some much-needed victories, losses have been harrowing on the Union side, and volunteers are getting scarce. That leaves conscription, but it's an extremely unpopular measure - especially because of the possibility to avoid it by paying a sum of money only the rich can afford. Yet the North has little choice but to maintain it. and this is how, in July 1863 in New York City, simmering resentment turns into bloody rioting - with Blutch and Chesterfield caught in the tragic events. Description: Contrary to what you may believe, even the very martial Sergeant Chesterfield didn't always wear the Union's blue uniform. Both he and Blutch were civilians at the beginning of the war - butcher's boy and barman, respectively. So, how did they find themselves in the 22nd Cavalry? Well, there was a rather unscrupulous recruiting officer, a lot of alcohol, an overly eager young lady.and a definite aversion for the infantry!. Description: War rages on, and the wounded pile up - including Blutch, courtesy of Confederate artillery. The Union Army doctors are swamped. In order to address his shortage of healers, General Alexander brings in a quartet of female nurses. But while he did also recruit a foul-tempered 'matron' of sorts to discourage anyone more interested in flirting that doing their duty, he may not have planned for the possibility of one of the nurses falling for a certain small, unruly, bald corporal. Description: The Blue and the Gray.and the Brown! While out on patrol, Blutch and Chesterfield encounter an unusual soldier: a woman wearing a Union uniform, who has come to join the army to look for her brother and uphold the family's honour. Blutch is unconvinced, but the sergeant, won over by the combination of bravery and a pretty face, agrees to help her. That, however, means taking her along for Captain Stark's demented charges - a prospect that could drive anyone to shirk their duty or desert. Description: On 9th August 2001, twenty-two days after Jeffrey Archer was sentenced to four years in prison for perjury, he was transferred from HMP Belmarsh, a double-A Category high-security prison in south London, to HMP Wayland, a Category C establishment in Norfolk. He served sixty-seven days in Wayland and during that time, as this account testifies, encountered not only the daily degradations of a dangerously over-stretched prison service, but the spirit and courage of his fellow inmates. Prison Diary Volume II: Purgatory is an extraordinary work of non-fiction, where Archer reveals what life is like inside the walls of Britain's prisons.
