Review: Oh! Jeez! Four cycling books reviewed today, all very different from each other. This book breaks down the hour into it's component parts in a way I have not seen done before. Brad takes you through the whole painful process in a way that is inspirational. I'll use the same techniques to do my own hour record on the Chiang Mai velodrome - which at my age ( 67) is a but daft. If I hit 35km I'll be happy! And I'm not the only one from my club who wants to do this! OK, we're on an outdoor 333 concrete velodrome in searing heat, but Hey! it'll be fun all the way!

Review: It wasn't a bad book but more of a coffee table book than a decent read. It barely took longer to read than it did for him to ride it! I feel that there is a much better, more in depth book struggling to get out. I feel a bit cheated out of a tenner.

One of only five Britons to wear the yellow jersey in the Tour de France, Sean Yates burst onto the cycling scene as the rawest pure talent this country has ever seen. After turning professional at the age of 22, he soon became known as a die-hard domestique, putting his body on the line for his teammates. Devastatingly fast, powerful and a fearless competitor, Yates won a stage of the Tour, as well as the Vuelta a España, in 1988, and went on to don the coveted maillot jaune six years later. Having put British cycling on the map as a rider, Yates was soon in demand as a directeur sportif, using his tactical knowledge to inspire a new generation of cyclists to success. And after Team Sky came calling, Yates was the man to design the brilliant plan that saw Sky demolish the opposition in 2012, and for Bradley Wiggins to become the first cyclist from these shores to win the Tour. Straight-talking, entertaining and revelatory, It's All About the Bike is the story of a remarkable career told from the unique perspective of a man who is immersed in the history of the sport he loves. Paris-Roubaix. The Hell of the North. The ultimate monument in cycling's Classics. More than 150 miles across dusty or muddy roads, much of it puncture-inducing and bone-breaking cobblestones. Even professional riders blanche at the very mention of it. Tour de France winners (with the notable exception of Wiggins in 2014) make their excuses from it. So why on earth would an amateur even dare to attempt it? In To Hell on a Bike, Iain Mac Gregor does just that and as he prepares for the ride of his life, he explores the history and culture of this extraordinary race. With insights from legends of the sport, trainers, mechanics and fellow writers, as well as those who have maintained the traditions of Paris-Roubaix since its inception over a century ago, it is the ultimate story of the ultimate cycling challenge.
