Review: This was a solid retelling. I loved Sophia and LOVED the last 70 pages & ending with a burning passion!!! So firstly, why three stars? The pace was a little too slow, especially at the start leading up to the ball. For me, it was only in the aftermath of the ball I found myself hooked, and in the last 100-70 pages that I couldn't put it down. This affected the overall enjoyment of the book. For me, the Sophia / Constance dynamic carried the story, along with all the uncovering of clues to figure of the ongoing mystery, rather than the fight itself. Saying that, the payoff of the ending was absolutely worth the read - I was cheering and fist pumping. I really enjoyed all of the characters, the world building was brilliant and I love the twists made to the original tale. I could 100% see this as a movie adaption - I'll be sure to read more from Kalynn Bayron.
