Review: Was so happy to see Ridley and Linkubus return, I loved their chemistry and really enjoyed getting to know them better through a fast and fun story. Im assuming the ending is not what it seems to be (the old gang are sure to come together to right all wrongs?) and the intro of magical rings connecting them was great, and should make for a fab set of books with all the main characters getting their shot at the limelight. Really enjoyed this book.

Review: I quite like the Beautiful Creatures series - I like the southern setting and I quite like a lot of the characters. A major advantage to this book is that Lena barely features. I found her intensely irritating. In this novel, it's mostly set in New York so misses some of that southern gothic charm. It's always a challenge for authors when it comes to anti-heroines in this case the vampish Siren Ridley Duchannes. She loves her bad girl image but she isn't all that bad. The challenge for the authors is that by developing her character in a full novel, they are actually just trying to make her a good girl after all. Alas I don't buy Link and Ridley and I feel it would have been a bolder move to have explored that their doomed relationship without trying to make the reader want them to be together. I feel the men in this universe are all a bit pathetic: Ethan, Macon & Link have all been used and abused to a degree by the women they love and the authors seem quite happy with this. It is worth reading for the ending though! Also please note that there are two novellas - an absolute cheek to expect you to pay approximately a £1 each for them - but I only noticed Dream Dark which is about Link. It is a lot more useful to read Dangerous Dream which directly leads into the events of this novel. Also, you might want to do a quick bit of revision about the Beautiful Creatures plot - I had forgotten lots of it.
