Review: I have had this book on my shelves for so long that I honestly don't actually remember buying it. I am a little bit obsessed with The Illuminae Files so it's safe to assume I bought it after reading that. This was an enjoyable MG read and a good start to a series; the world is easy to follow but is built up well throughout the book and you can definitely see that there are layers to the world that are not quite yet explored - and kept hidden for the plot. I'll be intrigued to see what is revealed of the world as the book series go on and definitely think there are a few secrets not yet explored. At times, with it being a MG book, the plot did feel a little obvious at times but it was never in a way that impacted my overall enjoyment of the book. I do feel that the ending of the book really elevates the storytelling and leaves you on a good cliffhanger for the next one. Will be looking forward to getting a copy of the second book and diving in!
