Description: London, 1876. Hetty Feather is just a tiny baby when her mother leaves her at the Foundling Hospital. The Hospital cares for abandoned children - but Hetty must first live with a foster family until she is big enough to go to school. Life in the countryside is sometimes hard, but with her foster brothers, Jem and Gideon, Hetty helps in the fields and plays vivid imaginary games. Together they sneak off to visit the travelling circus, and Hetty is mesmerised by the show - especially the stunning Madame Adeline and her performing horses. But Hetty's happiness is threatened once more when she must return to the Foundling Hospital to begin her education. The new life of awful uniforms and terrible food is a struggle for her, and she desperately misses her beloved Jem. But now she has the chance to find her real mother. Could she really be the wonderful Madame Adeline? Or will Hetty find the truth is even more surprising?. Jacqueline Wilson will surprise and delight old fans and new with this utterly original historical novel. Featuring a brand-new feisty Victorian heroine, Hetty Feather, this is a compelling, moving, funny and totally fascinating Tracy Beaker-esque tale that will thrill and captivate readers.

Review: These are the book reviews from the children in Sycamore class (2017-18) from Bedford Road Primary School. We spent six weeks reading Hetty Feather as a book study, and thought it was amazing! Here are all the children's book reviews. Hetty Feather is the best! I recommend this book for everyone! I loved it because it’s exciting as Hetty embarks on her journey to find her real Mother...(Ida!) Good luck with your new Hetty Feather Book (Hetty Feather’s Christmas) P.S This book inspired me and reminded me of myself. Hetty Feather review I really liked it because it was really adventurous and heartbreaking for Ida to leave Hetty all on her own. Why oh why does she have to leave her on her own! Also Ida revealed that she was Hetty's true mother what a sad and happy ever after story that was. It was beautiful when they got back together again it was truly brilliant! Thanks for this amazing story JACKIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I liked Hetty Feather because it is very interesting. The circus was very cool as Madam Adeline picked Hetty when she fell over out of every other people running to the front to go with Madam Adeline on her and her horses but she picked Hetty because she fell over (proves Madam Adeline is a sweet lady). Hetty Feather is quite a lucky girl because she is one of the few children in England that would have an education she was desperate to find her real mother and she finally finds her she is Ida (the kitchen maid). HOW I FOUND HETTY FEATHER Ida is Hetty’s mum. Polly is Hetty’s friend. I really loved Hetty Feather because I kind of have the same personality as Hetty Feather and she reminds me of myself, my brother and my dad when we have our adventures, also she has a lot of exciting adventures. My Book Review Of Hetty Feather I have read Hetty Feather and I think it was FAB because l could feel the emotions that all the characters felt and when I read it, and it's literally so-o touching and builds a good picture for the reader of what Hetty Feather has gone through in her life. It also inspired me to be brave. I would definitely rate this five star and hope other people read this book too. My review of Hetty Feather I've loved Hetty Feather thanks Jacqueline! 1. I loved the moment when Hetty found out Ida was her real mum! 2. I was annoyed when Jem was lying but it was an ok part of the story. 3. It was smart to make - Hetty Feather, Sapphire Battersea, Emerald Star, Your new book Hetty Feather's Christmas! 4. And my last words are good luck with Hetty Feather's Christmas hoping to read it soon. Hetty Feather:] I felt that the book Hetty Feather was really good, because I loved it at the end when I heard that Ida was her real mother and all my class were in shock and I really want to read the book Sapphire Battersea , it looks great :] I felt that the book is very emotional because Lil was coughing blood and the words that were used were detailed. Also when we found out that Ida was Hetty's mother and that her real name was Sapphire it was shocking to the whole class. HOW I FOUND HETTY FEATHER ( Top 10 things in MY opinion! ) I liked these things most 1. How she and Jem fantasied about their future 2. The part when she had to leave her foster family 3 3. How the matrons treated her was sad – But funny at the same time! 4. When Hetty found out Ida was her real mother <3 5. All the bits about ' Savage ' Saul RIP ( Thanks influenza >:C ) 6. When she first met Polly! YAY! 7. How savage she was - How she wanted her opinion to be noticed 8. How she literally knew her birth name was Sapphire ( Great name choice. 9. When Eliza told Hetty about HER Jem (Hetty’s face >:C ) 10. The sad bits were devastating :C DEFINITELY would recommend this at home , School , Work ( if you can! ) , Library , On the bus to read basically anywhere! A great classroom book. Very emotional and sad at parts. Read if you love Victorian Stories! PART 2: Sapphire Battersea PART 3: Emerald Star PART 4: Little Stars PART 5 (Coming soon! ) : Hetty Feathers Christmas. I loved Hetty Feather because she was fostered and she did not know her name, she did not know who was her mother. I just loved it and I can’t believe that Ida was her mother. And Ida followed her into the Foundling Hospital. I do recommend it in schools and homes. I really enjoyed reading Hetty Feather it was so dramatic I would definitely recommend it to a friend. Review: I have a nine year old daughter and she has loved the Tracy Beaker series which was written by Jacqeline Wilson, ever since she was first introduced to them on CBBC. My daughter has also been a very keen reader from a very early age, in particular, loving a great story. Hetty Feather is a really great story, with twists and turns of plot a plenty. To give an idea of just how gripping this story is, imagine a nine year old not wanting to play with her Nintendo, watch TV, (not even Tracy Beaker) and want to get up early just to fit in a bit more reading!? Yep, it really is, that good! For services to childrens literiture, if she hasn't already been given one, Jacqueline Wilson deserves a medal of some sort!
