Review: My five year old insists we read this daily, and particularly enjoys the ghost snacks. I love the illustrations and the ending. Very good.

Review: I was really disappointed by this book. I bought it for my 4 and 6 year olds who've been interested in (& a little worried by) the idea of ghosts recently. I'd hoped it'd be a fun way of demystifying ghosts in a fun and playful way. Sadly it didn't fit the bill at all. The language used and the word count were too advanced for young children. Also, this isn't in a story format, but a mock chaptered manual on ghost handling. The illustrations are all in the near monotone of the front cover, and wouldn't be engaging for younger readers. Finally, there are some really odd ideas in the book that would have heightened the worries of my young children. For example, it informs you that your ghost will stay with your forever even when you grow old and will always be looking over your shoulder, and that you should take care not to accidentally eat them. Of course, all children are different, but this would certainly have caused mine anxiety.
