Description: Unpredictable yet reliable, gentle yet powerful, authoritative yet humble, human yet divine.' Respected pastor and bestselling author Tim Keller takes a deep and thought-provoking look at the life of Christ. Drawing from Mark's gospel, he explains how Jesus' identity as king and his purpose in dying on the cross have meaning and significance on a cosmic scale as well as for the individual. THE REASON FOR GOD gave a passionate and intellectually compelling case for God, while THE PRODIGAL GOD explored the gospel's central message of grace. Now KING'S CROSS gives a captivating account of the person at the heart of it all: Jesus. Written in Keller's trademark authoritative yet inviting style, this book will unlock new insights for believers and unbelievers alike. Review: This book is profound in that it clearly and simply reveals Jesus in personality and purpose. To be able to present Christ in a manner that interprets his character through his encounters with people and his choice of lifestyle and decisions, with such precision but also passion, is quite incredible and I will always be buying and giving this book away as long as it is in print to anyone who wants to know who on earth this Jesus is and what he is all about.

Review: Written in an accessible style this provides interesting insights into Mark's Gospel. It would be suitable for an interested enquirer prepared to think through some of the deeper issues. That does NOT mean it is a heavy read. It's continuing value is shown by the fact that I have added Scripture and subject indexes. A great portrait of Jesus emerges.

Waterstones Kings Cross Station Through Time

Price: £15.99

Brand: Waterstones

Description: King's Cross station was the terminus of the Great Northern Railway and was opened in 1852. Designed by Lewis Cubitt, it replaced a temporary station at Maiden Lane. It established itself as the London terminus of what is now known as the East Coast Main Line to Edinburgh. From 1862, at 10 a.m. every weekday, the Flying Scotsman left King's Cross for the north, initially taking over ten hours to complete the journey but now taking only four hours from Edinburgh to London. Some of Britain's most famous locomotives, from the Ivatt Atlantics to the A3 and A4 Pacifics, Deltics and HS Ts, have sped north from King's Cross. The underground station below the main line station encompasses six lines and was the scene of the disastrous King's Cross fire in 1987, following which it was rebuilt. King's Cross itself has been redeveloped many times over the years, and a fictional platform (93/4) made famous in the Harry Potter novels. Its Grade 1 listed facade has been revamped and the station improved to increase capacity. Waterstones Kings Cross Station Through Time - shop the best deal online on thebookbug.co.uk

Description: The Cross is the universal symbol of the Christian faith. But what does the Cross mean? Why did Jesus have to die? In this magisterial and best-selling book, John Stott unpacks the significance of Christ's cross and answers objections commonly brought against biblical teaching on the atonement. Stott will help you discover how Jesus himself understood the cross, and how 'Christ in our place' is at the heart of its meaning. Understand what the cross achieved, and learn what it means to live under the cross. This modern classic combines excellent biblical exposition, and a characteristically thoughtful study of Christian belief, with a searching call to the church to live under the cross.
