Review: I just discovered Breccia after researching more books by Oesterheld. I absolutely loved the original Eternaut and there were only a few works by the author before his untimely disappearance. Mort Cinder is an intelligent action adventure that transpires through the ages. Thanks to the Lazarus-like abilities of the protagonist, the short stories can be set anywhere and anytime in history. It is truly ahead of it’s time. I had no idea that Breccia was a huge inspiration to my favorite comic artist of the 1980s, Bill Sienciewicz. It is apparent in the panels of Mort Cinder, that experimentation and emotion were paramount to the artist. The artwork is exquisite. This graphic novel is a wonderful addition to any collection.
