Description: This New York Times bestseller is soon to be an animated series on Netflix! In the tradition of Uni the Unicorn and Gaston, this heartwarming and adorable debut picture book tells the story of a young unicorn who was born under the sea to a family of narwhals. Growing up in the ocean, Kelp has always assumed that he was a narwhal like the rest of his family. Sure, he's always been a little bit different | ??his tusk isn't as long, he's not as good of a swimmer, and he really doesn't enjoy the cuisine. Then one night, an extra strong current sweeps Kelp to the surface, where he spots a mysterious creature that looks just like him! Kelp discovers that he and the creature are actually unicorns. The revelation leaves him torn: is he a land narwhal or a sea unicorn? But perhaps, if Kelp is clever, he may find a way to have the best of both worlds. Told with heartwarming illustrations and spare, sweet text, Jessie Sima's debut picture book is about fitting in, standing out, and the all-encompassing love of family. Review: I first saw this book in Germany (Das kleine Walhorn) and immediately loved the cover and story. I ordered it in English the same day, it has since arrived and it is just about the loveliest picture book I've ever seen. My son (nearly 6) has dozens, if not hundreds, of picture books but this is definitely one of my favourites. The illustrations are pretty and lovingly done, with some funny details that my son loves. The story is very positive, no one's nasty or unfriendly, it's just about little Kelp deciding what his place in life is. Since my son has dual nationality, I liked the message of the book that you don't have to choose between different identities, that you can be both. All in all, an excellent debut book that I recommend highly.

Review: I'm a teacher and fell in love with this cute narwal unicorn book. It's become a staple in my own home and I haven't met anyone who doesn't love this book! It's a book that has a great message and is fun to read and makes adults and kids smile! I found this book almost six years ago in the library and I loved it so much that it had to become part of my book collection! I wish it came as a cardboard book because we read it so often. You can incorporate colors and numbers easily on almost every page to make students interact with the book while you read.
