Review: First of all, Amelia was one of the initial highly educated nutritionists who really made sense to me. She is thoroughly qualified and has trained for years in order to pass on the benefits of her wisdom. She always quotes the evidence base for her methods, peer reviewed articles and the result is that this book is the complete amalgamation of everything we need to know. It isn't faddy, it is a 10 day blueprint to get a proper re-set of your body and mind but more importantly for me, it brings into sharp focus how tortured we have become about our food choices and how actually keeping it simple, and eating more rather than less, (of the good stuff!) fulfils your body's requirements to function properly (AND LOSE WEIGHT) but also your mind. The recipes are delicious and I could give her a HUG for including a shopping list at the beginning. There's also lots I didn't know, e.g. about amino and animal protein. It is written in a very accessible way, not patronising but also not at all complicated. It is just really kind to you. I'm the woman who burns salads and kills people when I cook for them, so this book has helped me enormously with my cooking confidence as well as my organisation...I BOUGHT TUPPERWARE. I LOVE IT. WHY DIDN'T ANYBODY TELL ME ABOUT TUPPERWARE?? I lost a stone in the 10 days, and am completely delighted. My skin is so good now I have actually stopped wearing moisturiser (except eye cream) and I sleep better and have much better ideas and fewer tears. Basically, this book explains what we need to properly nourish our bodies and minds, and then shows us how to achieve that. I'm mortified by the amount of junk I was putting into my poor bod. No wonder it had shut down. Think I went for days without giving it complete proteins, good fats, minerals and vitamins. NO MORE! Buy this book, READ AMELIA'S WISDOM, then follow the recipes and you will be giving yourself the best Christmas present.

Review: I don't like writing negative reviews - I am passionate about nutrition and gut healing "protocols" and grow my own veg, so Amelia writings sparked my interest and her recipes looked fantastic, her approach seemed great and attainable to most, but for me this book just falls a bit short. Sorry Amelia! Initially you think its really in-depth as far as the planning, preparation with the day by day accounts and an idiot proof shopping list at the end. The vegan options are a great plus! On first inspection, this seemed like a perfectly planned book, something I have been waiting to be published for a long time, but I started to realise a few holes the more I read and discussed this plan with my husband... Here are a few of our observations - Firstly, I am not really sure how you could do this 10 day shop and fit it all in the fridge! And I have a big fridge, so for me you would have to break this down into at least two shops or more.If this was suggested upfront or broken into two 5 day consecutive chunks that might be better. I know I can do this for myself but as it stands, it looks like this book is doing all the hard prep and planning work for you. The shopping list isn't the complete shopping list, you have to read each recipe to scout for any hidden ingredients or speciality things you may only be able to get online, depending on your local shopping/food resources. I also think the cost of this 10 day plan might be prohibitive to most. If you wanted to do this with organic and high grade meat this would be £200-£300, if not more. :( Stating a "large bag of carrots", might be better to state approx. 1kg bag of carrots, So some idea of weights and measurements would help, in the efforts of either not wasting food or not having enough to complete the recipes at the end. The recipes and shopping list is for 1 person only. It took me ages to find this out. in fact it was a Q&A online somewhere about the book. Maybe its buried in the text, but these are all things worth reiterating and adding to the recipe pages/shopping page. Timings for the preparation, cooking, cooling down of food. In a working week, I would love a book like this to state an order to follow with timings. i.e.. "Prep recipe A first as we need to allow this to cool down so we can put this in the fridge/freezer before bed time, now get on with recipe B, which is tonight's tea, and prep for recipe C, tomorrows lunch. This should take approx. 2.5 hours in total including cooking time. She has done this better than any other book, so I shouldn't complain, its just the time needed for prepping and cooking that is always a shock to me, and others I have spoken to - People have busy lives and stuff to do in their evenings, and understanding how much time to set aside for this plan could make or break the success of this to some people. We all know to follow any healthy eating plan you will have to put the work, money and time in, no one is doubting this - all these additions (for me) just all help make for the complete plan which I think, is what Amelia was trying to achieve. She has gone a very long way with this, I think it is a beautiful looking book, and I intend to start introducing the recipes into my food planning, a few at a time - so it is in no way a wasted purchase for me, we just won't be following the 10 day plan in its complete and intended way.
