Review: I rarely venture outside of Marvel or DC superhero books but after reading good things about this series I downloaded the Kindle edition. I was bowled over! The art is simplistic yet expressive, intimate yet cinematic. With the frame-by-frame function of the Kindle this is like watching a film or TV series (which this is soon set to be I believe) with the use of silent or ‘uneventful’ frames as important as any action packed ones. This is a slow burning story but the pacing manages to hook the reader and draws you into the immersive nature of the title. The collection merges the individual issues together without stopping for individual covers – which I usually despise but this really helps keep the story racing along. I could not put this down and that is incredibly unusual for me – I immediately sought out the next volume. When the TV series hits I guarantee this will be the next big thing – so get in before the masses. This is not cutesy super heroics and defiantly not for the young due to both subject matter and indeed language but that being said, I cannot give this book a higher recommendation.
